On the occasion of Doctors’ Day 2025, Medtalks, a digital platform for medical education and doctor engagement, has launched the #DoctorsDeserveBetter campaign. This national initiative calls attention to the emotional and systemic challenges facing India’s doctors, placing their mental health and wellbeing at the centre of the conversation.
A short film created in collaboration with Red Comet Films anchors the campaign. Shot with a minimalist and immersive approach, the film follows the lived experience of a doctor through a single day, showing the emotional burden that often remains unseen. It captures the unrelenting pace, the weight of patient expectations, and the silent emotional labour that defines the profession.

The campaign is supported by findings from the Doctors’ Day 2025 Survey conducted by Medtalks, which gathered responses from 200 doctors across public and private healthcare systems in India. Key insights include:
· 74% experience emotional exhaustion on a weekly or daily basis
· 38% are worried about violence in the workplace
· One in three work more than 60 hours per week
· Only 17% receive a full day off each week
· Just 14% believe the system supports their wellbeing
Nilesh Aggarwal, Founder, Medtalks and CEO, IJCP Group said, “This film and the data behind it reflect a sobering truth. Doctors are working under intense and often unsafe conditions, with limited time to recover physically or emotionally. The #DoctorsDeserveBetter campaign is about creating space for real conversations and urgent reforms.”
Ankit Ahuja, Founder, Red Comet Films said, “Our intent was to bring honesty and restraint to the storytelling. Doctors rarely speak about what they carry. We wanted this film to reflect their reality without embellishment, and to let the silence say what words often cannot.”
